SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Maverik Center announced that the second annual Rio Tinto Best of Utah NCAA Gymnastics Meet will return in January 2021.

The event will take place on Saturday, January 9 at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah at 7 p.m. MST. The University of Utah, BYU, Southern Utah and Utah State will compete in the event.

It will be the season opener for all four teams participating in the event. The preseason rankings were released and three of the four teams are ranked. Utah is No. 4 in the country, BYU is No. 17 and Southern Utah is No. 23.

In the inaugural event, Utah cruised to the win in their second meet of the season. In 2021, the Red Rocks will begin on bars, BYU will start on beam, the Thunderbirds will begin on on vault and the Aggies will start on the floor.

Tickets for the event went on sale on December 22 and will run through Friday, December 25 until midnight. During the presale, fans will have first access to designated socially distanced seats, receive $5 dollars off regular price, pay no online fees and have parking included in the price.

After the presale window, the general public seats will go on sale with regular priced tickets beginning on Saturday, December 26 at 10 a.m. MST. The Maverik Center will allow around 1,700 fans based on the arena’s work with state and local health officials. Seating will be sold in pods of 1-8 tickets to ensure proper social distancing. Fans must purchase the correct pod size for their group.
