Jazz Waive Former BYU Guard Jake Toolson

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz have waived former BYU guard Jake Toolson. In a press release, the team announced their agreement to sign free agent NBA veterans Yogi Ferrell and Malcolm Miller, while waiving several players on non-guaranteed contracts.
In addition to Toolson, the Jazz waived guard Trevon Bluiett, center Romaro Gill, and forward Tre Scott. The Jazz signed both Bluiett and Scott over the last week.
Gill was signed by the team after November’s NBA draft but did appear in any of the team’s three preseason games.

Toolson was one of basketball’s best shooters throughout his unique college career. The sharpshooter began his career at BYU, transferred to Utah Valley University, before returning to BYU for his junior and senior seasons.
The guard averaged 15.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists as a fifth-year senior for BYU.
Ferrell has spent time with the Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks, and Sacramento Kings since entering the NBA in the 2016-17 season. The veteran guard owns career averages of 7.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 249 games.
Miller is entering his fourth season in the NBA. The 6’7 wing has appeared in 53 career games with the Raptors.

The former Raptor has career averages of 2.0 points. 0.7 rebounds, and 0.3 rebounds. Despite limited playing time, Miller has posted strong efficiency numbers shooting 43 percent from the floor and 40 percent from the three-point line.
