Welcome Back: Utah Jazz Center Derrick Favors Scores First Points In Return

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Jazz center Derrick Favors scored the first points of his second stint with the team during the first quarter of Utah’s preseason game against the Phoenix Suns.
The Jazz hosted the Suns at Vivint Arena on Saturday, December 12.
With 2:04 left in the opening quarter, Jazz fans saw a familiar sight as Joe Ingles found a rolling Favors in the lane.
The Jazz big man banked the ball off of the glass and into the bucket for the first points of his return.
After spending last season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Favors was a free agent this offseason and chose to return to the Jazz.
At the end of the first quarter, the @UtahJazz lead the Phoenix Suns 33-26.
Mitchell has 9 points, Clarkson added 6.

Favors first entered the game near the end of the first quarter.
At the end of the quarter, Favors had two points on 1-1 shooting.

The Jazz owned a 33-26 lead at the end of the first 12 minutes of action.
Utah shot 44 percent from the field and 43.6 percent from downtown in the quarter.
Donovan Mitchell and Jordan Clarkson led the Jazz with nine points apiece.

By comparison, Phoenix shot 36.7 percent overall, including 20.0 percent from deep.
The Suns were led by Devin Booker’s 12 points.

About Derrick Favors
After playing the half of his rookie season with the New Jersey Nets, Favors came to the Jazz during a trade in the 2010-11 season.
The big man went on to play the following eight-plus seasons with Utah.
After the 2018-19 season, the Jazz traded Favors to the New Orleans Pelicans.

During nine seasons with Utah, Favors averaged 12.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game. He played in 576 games as a member of the Jazz, including 413 starts.
The center owns career averages of 11.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.3 blocks per contest.
