SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The year 2020 has been… so many things. For many, it has been one of the hardest years of our lifetime, but this wild year has reminded many of us of the importance of community.

Sports are an integral part of many communities – so here at KSL Sports, we wanted to look back on some of the best moments sports brought us in 2020.

… And of course, we had to make it (a little) competitive.

Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert Make their First All-Star Appearances.

The Utah State Aggies win the Mountain West Championship on a hero shot from Sam Merrill. 

Former Utah quarterback, Alex Smith, completes his legendary comeback from a brutal leg injury as the starting quarterback for the Washington Football team. 

With the loss of Utah Jazz coaching legend, Jerry Sloan comes an outpouring of memories and support from players, colleagues and fans.

Donovan Mitchell posts two 50+ point playoff games in the NBA Bubble and sets a franchise record.

BYU Men’s Basketball takes down Gonzaga in the Marriot Center for Mark Pope’s first signature win.

The 2020 BYU Football teams lose their schedule, Tom Holmore recreates the schedule and they nearly post an undefeated season. 

Bojan Bogdanovic drains a buzzer-beater against the Houston Rockets at Vivint SmartHome Arena. 

Dixie State Football has a true “superman” offseason. First, they saved a hiker. Next, they saved a woman who was washed under her car during a flood. 

Utah High School made it through an entire season (with limited cancelations) during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing a special year for high school athletes. 

Former BYU quarterback, Taysom Hill makes his first start for the New Orleans Saints. 

Former Utah State Aggie, Jordan Love was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Tons of Utah Football stars made the state proud and were well-represented in the NFL Draft. 

The Utah Jazz have a stellar offseason which includes: an extension for Donovan Mitchell and resigning both Jordan Clarkson and Derrick Favors.

The Last Dance, a documentary about Michael Jordan’s career, gives sports fans something to look forward to during one of the toughest stretches of the pandemic.
