SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Eight NBA players tested positive in the latest round of COVID-19 testing. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the positive tests came from a pool of 541 league players.
The number is a significant improvement from last week’s report in which 48 players returned positive tests.
The results mean less than two percent of NBA players tested positive for COVID-19 in the latest round of tests compared to the nationwide rate which is over 10 percent.

The NBA provided teams with a 100-page manual detailing COVID-19 protocols. The league successfully finished the 2019-20 season on the Disney World campus in Orlando with zero positive tests for players after play was suspended in March.
The NBA preseason gets underway Friday with a slate of five games. The preseason runs through December 19, with the regular season opening on December 22.
