Sophomore star Shaylee Gonzales, who only had five points in the loss to Washington, had a huge bounceback in the Cache Valley to lead BYU in scoring on Monday. Gonzales scored 27 points on 65 percent shooting from the field in 30 minutes of action.
Junior college transfer Lauren Gustin, who’s been one of the top newcomers this season for the Cougars, had her best game of her BYU career. Gustin scored 21 points and pulled down 17 rebounds in the rivalry win.
Gustin, a former All-American at Salt Lake Community College, has immediately made an impact as a starting forward for Jeff Judkins’ squad. Including the 17 rebound performance against the Aggies, Gustin is now averaging 12.6 rebounds per game to help BYU jump out to a 2-1 record.
