PROVO, Utah – The story of how the BYU and Coastal Carolina game being together is unique and historic. One of the great storylines to the game is the BYU Football Equipment crew, who made a cross-country trek from Provo to Conway, South Carolina.

The trip started on Wednesday night before the game became official, and they arrived Friday afternoon near Myrtle Beach.
As a reward for the efforts from truck drivers Hal Morrell and Fili Taufa, the BYU football team let the two-person driving tandem carry the team flags out before the undefeated Cougars take the field at Brooks Stadium.

It’s a cool gesture for two men who made a 40-plus hour trip and left Provo without the undefeated showdown being finalized.
BYU and Coastal Carolina are both 9-0 and it’s the first game featuring two undefeated teams with at least nine wins since 2009 when Alabama and Florida met in the SEC Championship that season. It’s only the third team this has happened in the last 20 years of college football.
The other flag bearers for the game include quarterback Sol-Jay Maiava-Peters who will carry the USA flag. Redshirt freshman tight end Hank Tuipulotu, a Fort Mill, South Carolina, will carry out a South Carolina state flag.
