PROVO, Utah – Having BYU step in for Liberty made Coastal Carolina go from being a double-digit home favorite to a double-digit underdog this Saturday.
Coastal Carolina star quarterback Grayson McCall saw that swing of outlook on his Chanticleers once BYU became the new opponent. McCall posted on his personal Instagram Stories an image of his locker with a printed screenshot of College Football reporter Brett McMurphy’s tweet showing the new line in favor of the 9-0 Cougars.

Nothing wrong with a little bit of motivation to get ready for a big game. No game has been bigger for the Chanticleers since they became an FBS member in 2017.
BYU remains a double-digit favorite over the 9-0 Chanticleers who are looking to showcase their program to the nation. McCall became the starter this season at quarterback as a redshirt freshman. He’s passed for 1,747 yards and only tossed one interception to 20 touchdown throws.
Grayson McCall vs. Zach Wilson
McCall’s exceptional play this season put him in the mix, along with BYU’s Zach Wilson, to be an official candidate for the 2020 Davey O’Brien Award.
The quarterback matchup featuring McCall and Wilson is one of the top storylines to watch heading into this unique matchup. A matchup that came together mid-week after Liberty withdrew from the game due to COVID-19 issues.

Pro Football Focus thinks highly of both signal-callers in this matchup. PFF rates Wilson as the No. 1 QB this season, with McCall not far behind at No. 8.
Wilson has been one of the nation’s most efficient quarterbacks, thrusting himself into the Heisman Trophy conversation this season. McCall orchestrates a Chanticleer offense that’s unique in its own right as it’s classified as a “spread option.”
It should be a great game, and the element of locker room material adds to the buildup of this historic matchup.
