SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau shoots a five-under-par second-round to catapult himself atop the leaderboard heading into the weekend.
Finau Fury
Finau’s five-under-par, 66, currently stands as the best second-round score of the day. However, Finau teed off early this morning. Multiple contenders for the tournament will not tee off until later in the day.
Six birdies and one bogey resulted in the five-under-par round with his lone bogey coming on his final hole of the day.

Unlike yesterday, Finau hit far more fairways resulting in more greens in regulations and fewer putts. The golf course, El Camaleon Golf Club, is playing very soft. Finau and the other golfers are not having to worry about their balls rolling through the fairway and into the rough. However, the soft conditions require exquisite accuracy when it comes to finding the fairways and greens.
Fortunately, Finau fixed his mistakes from a day ago and dialed in his game.
His six birdies were evenly split with three coming on the front nine and three coming on the back.
Finau found great success on the par 3’s on Friday, birdieing three of the four par 3’s throughout the day.
He is tied atop the leaderboard alongside Tom Hoge and Russel Knox.
Broadcast Info & Weekend Tee Times
Saturday’s tee times are yet to be announced. They are expected to be released later today. Finau fans can expect the Utah native to receive a lot of screen time as the weekend looms.

The broadcast begins at noon on Saturday and at 11 a.m. on Sunday on the Golf Channel.
Last year at the same event, albeit at a different location, Finau failed to make the cut. This year he finds himself in a prime position to compete for his second career PGA Tour victory. His lone win on the Tour came in 2016 when he won the Puerto Rico Open.
