BYU leads the all-time series against the Aztecs 48-26. But San Diego State has won the last four meetings, including last year’s 76-71 thriller at the Marriott Center.
BYU is 4-1 overall this season and San Diego State is 3-0. Each team has one victory over a Power 6 conference opponent thus far. The Aztecs are currently rated higher in the KenPom ratings at No. 33, while BYU is at No. 88.
One of the greatest BYU basketball games of all-time came against San Diego State and was on CBS Sports Network. That was in 2011 in Jimmer Fredette’s senior year. BYU won that game 71-58. The last time BYU won at Viejas Arena was that same season in front of a network television audience on CBS. Cougars rolled to an 80-67 win. Since the series has been all San Diego State.
BYU now has TV assignments and tip times for all of its remaining non-conference games for the 2020-21 season.
