It is a disappointing outcome for Ochoa who was experiencing his first senior national team camp after previously playing for the U-18 and U-20 national teams.
Ochoa was competing alongside CJ Dos Santos from Benfica and Bill Hamid from D.C. United for the starting goalkeeper position ahead of their friendly fixture against El Salvador on December 9th.
The extent of Ochoa’s injury is unknown. While it is also unclear where Ochoa will go to receive treatment.
Ochoa struggled with injury throughout the 2020 MLS regular missing multiple games with a thumb injury.
His replacement, Marcinkowski, joins the national team after previously competing at two separate camps. He has never appeared in a game for the national team.
