Real Salt Lake ‘Immediately’ Begins Search To Fill Assistant Coach Vacancies

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake has officially parted ways with Assistant Coach Steffen Seibert and Director of Goalkeeping Todd Hoffard. Seibert was let go while Hoffard’s contract expired and was not renewed by the club.
“On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Todd and Steffen for their time with Real Salt Lake and we wish both the best in their future endeavors,” Manager Freddy Juarez said in a statement released this afternoon.

RSL did retain Assistant Coach Tyrone Marshall and Video Analyst Rob Rogers. Matt Glaeser will also continue to work as the set-piece specialist in addition to his role as Assistant Coach with the Real Monarchs.
The club will “immediately begin the search to round out the coaching staff,” according to the release.
Looking Ahead
In 2020, RSL finished second-to-last in the Western Conference, tying their worst record in club history. Juarez completed his first year in charge as the full-time boss after serving an interim term in 2019.
There was speculation following the conclusion of the 2020 season regarding Juarez’s job security. However, it has become apparent that he will remain in charge moving forward.
General Manager Elliot Fall spoke to the media earlier this week to confirm, “I plan to work with Freddy moving forward, that is our plan and that is what I expect,” he said.
The club is in the midst of being sold. Owner Dell Loy Hansen is actively trying to sell the club following allegations of misconduct were released in August.
It is expected to be a very busy off-season for RSL as they attempt to climb back up the Western Conference standings.
