USU Men’s Basketball Coach Craig Smith Tests Positive For COVID-19

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State head men’s basketball coach Craig Smith tested positive for COVID-19, according to an official release from the athletic department.
Smith will be unavailable to coach the Aggies’ home opener against BYU scheduled for Saturday, December 5. Smith is asymptomatic, the diagnosis came from routine team testing, according to the statement.
“It will be difficult watching from a distance, but I know our team is in great hands with our coaching staff. Our program has always been led by our student-athletes. This doesn’t change a thing,” Smith said. “I’m looking forward to returning to the sidelines when our protocols deem it safe for everyone involved. I am pumped for our home opener on Saturday night!”

Utah State Aggies’ 2020-21 Season So-Far
So far on the season, the Aggies are 1-2 after playing in the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic. The lost to VCU and South Dakota State but posted a W against Northern Iowa.

Following their home opener against BYU, the Aggies have Dixie State on the schedule for December 15 in Logan, Utah.
