Ochoa, 19, started in one game during the 2020 MLS season. His lone start came during the final regular season match of the season against Sporting Kansas City at home. Previously, Ochoa played for the Real Monarchs before climbing the ranks of the RSL Academy.
“We are happy for David. He’s a player that we’ve had at the Academy who has a high ceiling and this is another part of his development. We are excited for him and he’s earned it,” RSL Head Coach Freddy Juarez said. “As a young goalkeeper he helped the Monarchs to a championship and now he’s made his debut with RSL. Anytime someone goes into the national team, their mentality and drive hit another level. We are excited for him to continue his development.”
Ochoa has represented his country at the U-18 and U-20 levels, gaining nine total appearances for his country to date.
The match against El Salvador is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast on ESPN.
