Frank Maile Provides More Information On Jason Shelley Dismissal From Utah State

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State interim head football coach Frank Maile provided more clarity into the dismissal of quarterback Jason Shelley.
The former Utah quarterback was dismissed from the Aggie football team on Sunday, November 15 for violation of team rules.
At that time, Maile was not offering any further comment. In his weekly press conference on Monday, November 30, Maile provided more clarity into the situation regarding Shelley.
“Jason did nothing illegal,” Maile told reporters. “He is a great young man. His dismissal was 100 percent my decision and not due to any misconduct or violation of institutional policies or rules.”

Shelley was in his first season at Utah State after transferring from Utah. He started in all four games this season for the Aggies, completing 51-of-99 passes for 420 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
In the last game in a USU uniform against Fresno State, Shelley went 9-of-24 passing for 144 yards, while rushing for 8 yards on 12 carries in Utah State’s loss to Fresno State on Saturday.
Utah State will return to Maverik Stadium on Thursday, Dec. 3 as they will host Air Force at 7:30 p.m. MST on CBS Sports Network.
