Utes Score First Touchdown Of 2020 Season On Big Defensive Play Against Trojans
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah football team scored its first touchdown of the 2020 season on a big-time defensive play against the No. 20 USC Trojans.
The Utes hosted the Trojans at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday, November 21.
After things had shifted USC’s way early in the second quarter, Utah’s defense responded with a momentum-swinging play.
With the Trojans’ offense on the field at their own 37-yard line and 11:53 left until halftime, defensive end Devin Kaufusi forced a fumble on a strip-sack of USC quarterback Kedon Slovis.
Utah’s Nephi Sewell scooped up the football and returned it 23 yards to the house.
The score was the first touchdown of the season by the Utes.
Utah tied USC at 10-10 with the defensive score.
It was Kaufusi’s first game as a member of the Utes after he transferred from BYU.
For Sewell, it was his first fumble recovery and touchdown as a Ute.
USC vs. Utah is broadcast on ESPN and 700 AM.
