SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah football team scored its first touchdown of the 2020 season on a big-time defensive play against the No. 20 USC Trojans.
The Utes hosted the Trojans at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday, November 21.
After things had shifted USC’s way early in the second quarter, Utah’s defense responded with a momentum-swinging play.
With the Trojans’ offense on the field at their own 37-yard line and 11:53 left until halftime, defensive end Devin Kaufusi forced a fumble on a strip-sack of USC quarterback Kedon Slovis.
Utah’s Nephi Sewell scooped up the football and returned it 23 yards to the house.

It was Kaufusi’s first game as a member of the Utes after he transferred from BYU.
For Sewell, it was his first fumble recovery and touchdown as a Ute.
Scoop and score! Devin Kaufusi forced the fumble on the sack and Nephi Sewell picks it up and runs 23 yds. for the TD!!
First fumble-return TD for @Utah_Football since Mika Tafua did the trick vs. UCLA (11/16/19).
