Vongphachanh, Shelton Combine For First Forced Fumble, Recovery Of Utah State Careers

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State defensive players AJ Vongphachanh and Elijah Shelton combined to record the first forced fumble and fumble recovery of their two individual careers.
The Utah State Aggies hosted the Fresno State Bulldogs at Maverik Stadium on Saturday, November 14.
With 5:46 remaining in the third quarter, Bulldogs quarterback Jake Haener connected with Keric Wheatfall for a four-yard gain.
Vongphachanh punched the ball out of Wheatfall’s hands and Shelton was able to gain possession at the USU 14-yard line.

It was the first forced fumble of Vongphachanh’s career and the first fumble recovery of Shelton’s collegiate days.
Unfortunately for Utah State, the drive ended 16 yards downfield and resulted in a punt.
At the end of the third quater, the Bulldogs held a 28-16 lead.
