SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Two of Utah’s most recognized golfers Tony Finau and Mike Weir are fighting for weekend playing rights at The Masters.

Finau and Weir were both in the midst of their second-round before the horn blew signifying the end of play as daylight set. Both players will resume their second-round bright and early tomorrow morning before hopefully preparing for their upcoming third round.

Finau, who is currently ranked 16th in the world according to the World Golf Rankings, sits at one-under-par with seven holes left. While the 2003 Masters champion Weir is one-over-par with nine holes remaining.

Fortunately, Finau has a 12-foot putt for birdie that he decided to sleep on and will attempt to immediately climb the leaderboard in the morning.

The current cut-line is projected to be one-under-par or even. This year, The Masters changed the way they initiate the cut. Formerly, if you were within 10 shots of the leader then you would qualify for the weekend, however, this year the top 50 golfers plus ties will make the cut ahead of the weekend.

Finau is currently in a tie for 45th, so he would make the cut if the leaderboard remained the same. However, Weir is in a tie for 61st and would consequently miss the weekends play.

Nonetheless, Augusta National has been playing easier in the mornings compared to the afternoon. A light drizzle of water makes the fairways a tad quicker and a recently rolled green provides easier reads for the players.

Finau and Weir will return to their marked golf balls at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning.
