PROVO, Utah – A future BYU football road game against Fresno State has been moved up two years to the 2023 schedule.
On Tuesday, Fresno State announced the completion of its 2023 non-conference schedule, and with it came a reveal that BYU would be traveling to the Valley on October 7th, 2023. Originally the first of a two-game series was scheduled to begin on November 8th, 2025.
The second game between the two programs is scheduled for October 9th, 2027, in Provo.

BYU’s 2023 schedule originally featured a road date to Houston on October 7th. That date opened up when Houston approached BYU to move the 2020 game in Provo to the Houston campus. Houston will make a return trip to Provo “at a date to be determined.”
BYU and Fresno State used to be old WAC rivals when they joined the conference in 1992, and the Bulldogs lead the all-time series against BYU 6-5.
The last time these two programs met was in 2017, which Fresno State won, 20-13.
BYU now has 10 games on its 2023 schedule, with five games apiece scheduled to be played in Provo and on the road.
