OGDEN, Utah – Weber State Athletics announced that men’s and women’s basketball games at the Dee Event Center will be played without spectators through at least Dec. 31.
The announcement takes into consideration the rising case numbers in the area and aligns with Weber State’s commitment to the well-being of its student-athletes, coaches, staff and the community.
“Although we will start this season without our great fans in the Dee Event Center, we are excited for our student-athletes to begin competition,” said Weber State Director of Athletics Tim Crompton. “From the beginning of the pandemic, the leaders of our institution have made the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and the community at large a priority. They have done this while making every effort to provide ways to move forward. We anticipate and are prepared to welcome our fans back into the Dee Event Center when it is safe to do so. Until that time, we realize it will be a different experience for our student-athletes, their families, and our fans.”
Due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic, Weber State Athletics has made the difficult decision to begin the 2020-21 @WeberStateMBB and @weberstatewbb seasons without spectators at home games through at least Dec. 31.
