SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The 5A and 6A Utah high school football playoffs will no longer be played in St. George, according to UHSAA’s website.

Instead, the games will be played in Eagle Mountain at Cedar Valley High School.

The change comes the morning after Utah Governor Gary Herbert announced new mandates to slow the spread of COVID-19 but no official reason for the change has been released by the UHSAA.

Football playoffs are the only high school extra curricular activities allowed to continue over the next two weeks under the mandates.

The 6A playoff games to be played in Eagle Mountain on Thursday, November 12 are Corner Canyon vs. East and Lone Peak vs. Skyridge. The 5A games include Timpview vs. Salem Hills and Orem vs. Maple Mountain and are set to be played Friday, November 13.

The UHSAA released the following statement about their plan to work in accordance with the health department to follow guidelines mandated by the state.
