BYU Basketball Releases Non-Conference Schedule For 2020-21 Season

PROVO, Utah – The 2020-21 BYU basketball schedule for non-conference is officially out. Year two of the Mark Pope era for Cougar Hoops will begin Wednesday, November 25th against Westminster in Provo.
The Cougars will then host New Orleans on Thanksgiving in Provo, followed by a home game against Mark Pope’s former team, Utah Valley University on November 28th.
As is the case with anything in 2020, creating the non-conference schedule was a challenge for Pope and the BYU basketball program due to all the moving pieces caused by the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

One of the biggest tasks was securing a new MTE (Multi-Team Event). BYU was originally scheduled to play in the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas. That got canceled putting BYU in the Legends Classic, which has a better field than the Junkanoo MTE offered. The Legends Classic will take place at the Mohegan Sun and will be part of the Bubble at the Mohegan that features numerous MTE’s. BYU will play USC on December 1st and then UConn or Vanderbilt on December 3rd.

December continues to be a tough stretch of games highlighted by rival Utah State in Logan on December 5th, Mountain West Conference preseason No. 2 Boise State in Provo on December 9th, and Utah on December 12th.
The Cougars then make a trip to Viejas Arena in California to take on San Diego State on December 18th.
BYU will return home for a game against Texas Southern on December 21st before closing out the non-conference schedule against Weber State at the Vivint Smarthome Arena on December 23rd.
