No. 9 Timpview Moves On To 5A Semifinals With Upset Win Over No. 1 Brighton

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The ninth ranked Timpview Thunderbirds advanced to the 5A semifinals with a 35-24 upset win over No. 1 Brighton.
The Thunderbirds had a 21-17 halftime lead before outscoring the Bengals in the second half, 14-7. Liu Aumavae threw one touchdown pass to Jaxon Allred. Raider Damuni and Targhee Lambson each scored a TD on the ground. Braxton Fely added an 8-yard scoop and score. For Brighton, Gabe Curtis threw one TD pass to Collin Edwards. He also ran in a touchdown as did Owen Powers.
Timpview will advance to the semifinals to face No. 4 Salem Hills (9-2) on Friday, Nov. 13 at 12:30 p.m. MT at Dixie State University.

Here are all of the results from the quarterfinal round of the 5A state football playoffs.
No. 5 Wasatch 35 at No. 4 Salem Hills 38
The Salem Hills SkyHawks held off a late comeback attempt by the Wasatch Wasps with a 38-35 victory. Salem Hills led Wasatch 31-21 as the two teams went to the fourth quarter. The Wasps scored two touchdowns in the final 15 minutes but it wasn’t enough to overcome the SkyHawks 24-point first half. Salem Hills quarterback Jarret Elmer accounted for five touchdowns in the win.
Salem Hills will move on to the semifinals to battle No. 9 Timpview (6-4) on Friday, Nov. 13 at 12:30 p.m. MT at Dixie State University.
No. 7 Skyline 28 at No. 2 Orem 49
The Tigers’ 28-point second quarter was the difference for the defending champions. Joe Smith had two rushing touchdowns, while both Devon Sa-Chisolm and Paxton Skipps had one each. For Skyline, Braxton Bolingbroke found Isaac Visser for a touchdown.
Orem will advance to the semifinals to face No. 6 Maple Mountain (9-2) on Friday, Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m. MT at Dixie State University.
No. 14 Alta 30 at No. 6 Maple Mountain 40
After the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 26-7 lead in the first half, the Hawks scored 23 unanswered in the third quarter to take a 30-26 lead entering the final period. Maple Mountain scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to advance to the next round. Thomas Weight and Tyler Nelson each ran in two touchdowns, while Quinlin Jackson had one rushing score. Hunter Bezzant connected with Kyson Hall for their only passing TD. For Alta, Ethan Jackson threw two touchdowns to Jensen Campbell. Samuel Black rushed for two touchdowns.
