No. 10 West Advances With Game-Winning Kickoff Return TD Against No. 7 Roy

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The West Panthers advanced to the 6A quarterfinals with a 44-38 win over No. 7 Roy.
A thrilling victory for West as Clarence Bird Butler returned a kickoff 95-yards for a touchdown in the final seconds to win the game. That came after Roy tied the game with a Cade Harris touchdown run. For West, Bird Butler also ran in two touchdowns as did Carson Lopati. Johnny Alo added a rushing score. The Royals had a passing TD from Parker Kingston to Izzy Gordon along with two rushing touchdowns. Gordon also ran in a score.
West will move on to the quarterfinals to battle No. 2 Lone Peak (10-1) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.

Here are all of the results from the second round of the 6A state football playoffs.
No. 17 Westlake 3 at No. 1 Corner Canyon 59
The Chargers’ win streak is extended to 37 with a dominating win. Jaxson Dart threw 5 touchdown passes, two to Cody Hagen and Talmage Handley, one to Noah Kjar. Dylan Carlson had two rushing TD’s. Zach Hale added a pick-six.
Corner Canyon will advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 9 Bingham (8-3) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 9 Bingham 24 at No. 8 Pleasant Grove 21
Nate Chamberlain drilled a 27-yard field goal as time expired to give the Miners the upset road victory over Pleasant Grove. Zac Erickson threw one touchdown pass to Isaiah Glasker, while Trey Ackerman added a rushing TD for Bingham. For the Vikings, Dave Britton threw one touchdown and ran in two more. He connected with Darrius Clemons through the air.
Bingham will move on to the quarterfinals to battle No. 1 Corner Canyon (11-0) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 20 Copper Hills 0 at No. 4 American Fork 52
Maddux Madsen threw six touchdown passes, two to Fisher Ingersoll and one to each Joe Togisala, Noah Moeaki, Peyton Rees and Ty Danielsen. Spike Adams added a rushing TD.
American Fork will advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 12 East (7-4) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.

No. 12 East at No. 5 Kearns
Kearns forfeited the game due to COVID-19.
East will move on to the quarterfinals to battle No. 4 American Fork (8-3) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 15 Riverton 7 at No. 2 Lone Peak 53
Riverton’s only score came late in the fourth quarter when Lone Peak had the big lead. Jonah Heimuli threw three TD’s, two to Crew McChesney and one to Ashton Gunther. Jaxson Willits, Luke Durfey and Luke Romney each ran in one rushing touchdown.
Lone Peak will advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 10 West (9-2) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 14 Herriman 5 at No. 3 Skyridge 36
The Mustangs were only able to get a safety and a field goal against a stout Skyridge defense. McCae Hillstead accounted for four touchdowns, one passing and three rushing. He found James Palmer for the lone receiving TD. Maka Fainga added a pick six for the Falcons.
Skyridge will advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 11 Davis (8-3) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.

No. 11 Davis 21 at No. 6 Weber 20
Spencer Ferguson ran in the go-ahead rushing TD with one minute remaining in the game. The Warriors couldn’t answer as the Darts pulled off the upset. Davis was trailing 20-0 in the second quarter before they kept Weber scoreless from that point. Chance Trujillo threw a touchdown and ran in one. He connected with Ferguson. For Weber, Gage Lloyd ran in two scores on the ground, while Jake Lindsay threw a TD pass to Cole Brosterhous.
Davis will move on to the quarterfinals to battle No. 3 Skyridge (9-2) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
