Curtis Carries No. 1 Brighton Into 5A Quarterfinals

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The No. 1 Brighton Bengals blasted the Spanish Forks Dons 49-20 to advance to the 5A quarterfinals.
No. 17 Spanish Fork 20 at No. 1 Brighton 49
The Tigers’ Gabe Curtis and Owen Powers each score a pair of touchdowns on the ground. In addition, Curtis tossed a pair of touchdown passes.
Brighton will advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 9 Timpview (5-4) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 9 Timpview 35 at No. 8 Olympus 13
The No. 9 Timpview Thunderbirds pulled off a 35-13 upset over the No. 8 Olympus Titans on Friday night. The Thunderbirds owned a 7-6 lead for the majority of the contest before running up the scoreboard with 28 points in the fourth quarter. Two of Timpview’s final quarter scores came on a pair of pick-sixes.
Timpview will move on to the quarterfinals to battle No. 1 Brighton (10-0) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 13 Box Elder 13 at No. 4 Salem Hills 44
The No. 4 Salem Hills SkyHawks rode a 34-point first half to a 44-13 win over the Box Elder Bees. Salem quarterback Jarret Elmer tossed four touchdown passes in the win.
Salem Hills will advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 5 Wasatch (8-2) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 12 Lehi 19 at No. 5 Wasatch 26
The No. 5 Wasatch Wasps held off a 19-point fourth quarter by the Lehi Pioneers to advance with a 26-19 win. Wasatch’s Chris Cook scored a trio of touchdowns on the ground to lead the Wasps. Creyton Cooper accounted for a pair of Lehi touchdowns in the Pioneers’ loss.
Wasatch will move on to the quarterfinals to battle No. 4 Salem Hills (8-2) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 18 Provo 35 at No. 2 Orem 65
The No. 2 Orem Tigers trounced the Provo Bulldogs 65-35 behind six rushing touchdowns. Joe Smith and Paxton Skipps each scored multiple rushing touchdowns in the Tigers’ win.
Orem will advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 7 Skyline (8-1) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.

No. 10 Bountiful 28 at No. 7 Skyline 38
The No. 7 Skyline Eagles emerged victorious from a back-and-forth 38-28 game against the Bountiful Braves. Skyline quarterback Braxton Bolingbroke had five touchdown passes in the 10-point win.
Skyline will move on to the quarterfinals to battle No. 2 Orem (5-2) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 14 Alta 29 at No. 3 Bonneville 9
The No. 14 Alta Hawks upset the No. 3 Bonneville Lakers 29-9 to reach the quarterfinals. The Hawks held the Lakers scoreless in the first half and took a 16-0 lead at the break. Alta was led by Ethan Jackson’s two passing touchdowns. Kord Shaw threw one touchdown pass for the Lakers.
Alta will advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 6 Maple Mountain (8-2) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
No. 11 Springville 21 at No. 6 Maple Mountain 27
Despite a scoreless second half, the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles held off the Springville Red Devils for a 27-21 win. Golden Eagles quarterback Tyler Nelson threw a pair of touchdown passes in the win.
Maple Mountain will move on to the quarterfinals to battle No. 14 Alta (6-5) on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. MT.
