SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation announced the addition of BYU quarterback Zach Wilson to the Golden Arm Award’s watch list for the 2020 season.

Wilson was officially added to the watch list on Tuesday, October 20.

The BYU junior is the second quarterback from the state of Utah on the award’s watch list.

In August, Utah quarterback Jake Bentley was announced as a member of the award’s original watch list for the 2020 season.

The Golden Arm Award is given annually to the top upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation and A. O. Smith.

Semifinalists, finalists, and the Golden Arm Award winner are selected by the Golden Arm Award Selection Committee, a group of football journalists, former coaches and players, general managers, commentators, announcers, and former Golden Arm Award winners.

Wilson has led the No. 12 Cougars to a 5-0 start to begin the 2020 season. It’s the first time in over a decade that BYU has remained undefeated through its first five games of the season.

The junior quarterback’s play has been stellar in the first half of the season and has led to conversations about Wilson in the Heisman picture and a top selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Wilson has accounted for 18 touchdowns and only one turnover in five contests.

He’s thrown for 1,641 yards, 12 touchdowns, and one interception with a 78.7 completion percentage. On the ground, Wilson owns 32 carries for 100 yards and six touchdowns.

Wilson and BYU will look to improve to 6-0 when they face the 1-5 Texas State Bobcats on Saturday, October 24 at 8:15 p.m. (MDT).

The game will broadcast on ESPN and KSL NewsRadio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM.
