Brighton Cracks Top 5 In KSLSports.com Game Night Live Power Rankings

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – After finishing the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record, the Brighton Bengals made the top 5 in the final Game Night Live Power Rankings.

The Corner Canyon Chargers remained at the top of the rankings for the 11th straight week after their 36th consecutive win in the regular season finale.

Each week the KSL Sports team votes on the top 20 schools in the state across all classifications.

Here is the final Game Night Live Top 20 power rankings in the state of Utah as voted on by the KSL Sports team entering the first round of the playoffs.

20. Skyline Eagles (7-1)

The Eagles couldn’t finish the regular season undefeated after falling to Olympus on Friday, 28-21. Skyline received a first round bye and is the No. 7 seed in the 5A state tournament.

Up next: Winner of No. 10 Bountiful (6-4)/No. 23 Hillcrest (2-8), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

19. Ridgeline Riverhawks (7-1)

The Riverhawks had the week off last week as they finished the regular season with just one loss, and that was to Sky View. Ridgeline is the No. 4 seed in the postseason and will get a first round bye this week.

Up next: Winner of No. 13 Cedar Valley (5-4)/No. 20 Tooele (2-7), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

18. Maple Mountain Golden Eagles (7-2)

The Golden Eagles needed two overtimes but they were able to knock off Salem Hills, 35-28 last Wednesday. Their only losses came against Pleasant Grove and Wasatch. Maple Mountain is the No. 6 seed in the 5A state tournament and will have a bye in the first round.

17. Lehi Pioneers (5-4)

On the final Game Night Live Game of the Week of the season, Lehi’s comeback attempt fell short, losing to Orem, 31-28 in the regular season finale. Lehi received the No. 12 seed in the upcoming 5A state tournament.

Up next: vs. No. 21 Viewmont (1-6), Friday, October 23 at 6 p.m.

16. West Panthers (7-2)

After losing by three points to Hunter on September 18, West was able to win the final three games of the regular season, including a upset win over Kearns. They shutout Granger, 24-0 last Thursday. The Panthers will be the No. 10 seed in the 6A tournament.

Up next: vs. No. 23 Jordan (0-10), Friday, October 23 at 6 p.m.

15. Pine View Panthers (9-1)

After losing to Ridgeline in the season opener by four points, Pine View went on to win the last nine games of the regular season. They are one of three teams ranked in the Game Night Live Power Rankings that is in the 4A classification. The Panthers received the No. 2 seed in the 4A playoffs and will have a first round bye.

14. East Leopards (5-4)

The Leopards finished the season on a three-game winning streak after a 49-0 win over Jordan in their season finale. East will be the No. 12 seed in the 6A state tournament.

13. Bingham Miners (6-3)

The Miners moved up three spots in the power rankings after a 28-7 win over Copper Hills last Thursday. It was their third straight victory. They will be the No. 9 seed in the 6A state tournament.

Up next: vs. No. 24 Granger (3-5), Friday, October 23 at 6 p.m.

12. Weber Warriors (7-1)

The Warriors won the last three games of the season and took the Region 1 crown with a 35-8 win over Roy on Friday. Weber’s only loss was to Layton on September 18. They will get a bye in the first round after getting the No. 6 seed in the 6A state playoffs.

Up next: Winner of No. 11 Davis (6-3)/No. 22 Syracuse (3-6), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

11. Pleasant Grove Vikings (6-4)

The Vikings struggled to finish strong in the toughest region in the state. They lost four of their last five games of the season. Pleasant Grove will get a first round bye as the No. 8 seed in the 6A state tournament.

Up next: Winner of No. 9 Bingham (6-3)/No. 24 Granger (3-5), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

10. Roy Royals (8-1)

The Royals won their first 8 games but couldn’t get that last win to go into the postseason undefeated. They lost to Weber, 35-8 last week and missed on winning Region 1. Roy will get a first round bye in the 6A playoffs after getting the No. 7 seed.

Up next: Winner of No. 10 West (7-2)/No. 23 Jordan (0-10), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

9. Orem Tigers (4-2)

After a month without games, the Tigers took the field last Wednesday and knocked off Lehi, 31-28. They will get the No. 2 seed in the 5A state tournament and will get a bye in the first round.

Up next: Winner of No. 15 Mountain Ridge (4-4)/No. 18 Provo (3-6), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

8. Kearns Cougars (8-1)

Kearns lost their first and only game of the regular season two weeks ago to West. They bounced back with a 65-28 win over Cyprus last Friday. The Cougars will get a first round bye after getting the No. 5 seed in the 6A state tournament.

Up next: Winner of No. 12 East (5-4)/No. 21 Clearfield (3-7), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

7. Bonneville Lakers (8-1)

The Lakers won their first Region title in 18 years after going through Region 5 undefeated. Their only loss came against Sky View during Week 2. Bonneville will have a first round bye in the 5A state playoffs and will be the No. 3 seed.

Up next: Winner of No. 14 Alta (4-5)/No. 19 Farmington (2-8), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

6. American Fork Cavemen (7-3)

The Cavemen went through the Region 4 gauntlet with just three losses, falling to Skyridge, Lone Peak and Corner Canyon. They will get a first round bye in the 6A tournament and will be the No. 4 seed. Since Fremont forfeited their first round matchup, Copper Hills will move on to the next round to face American Fork.

5. Sky View Bobcats (9-0)

Dating back to the 2019 season, the Bobcats have won 21 straight games. Sky View finished the season with an undefeated record. They did not play last week and they won’t play this week because of their first round bye after earning the No. 1 seed in the 4A state tournament.

Up next: Winner of No. 16 Desert Hills (4-6)/No. 17 Mountain Crest (2-8), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

4. Brighton Bengals (9-0)

The Bengals cruised through their regular season schedule. They had two games that was decided by one touchdown, against Olympus and Springville. Brighton will look for the 5A state championship as they picked up the No. 1 seed and a first round bye.

Up next: Winner of No. 16 Highland (2-6)/No. 17 Spanish Fork (3-7), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

3. Skyridge Falcons (8-2)

The Falcons survived Region 4 with just two losses to two teams ranked ahead of them. They finished the regular season with a 71-13 win over Westlake. Skyridge will be the No. 3 seed in the 6A state playoffs and will get a first round bye.

Up next: Winner of No. 14 Herriman (5-5)/No. 19 West Jordan (3-6), Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m.

2. Lone Peak Knights (9-1)

The Knights finished the regular season with three straight wins. Their only loss came against Corner Canyon by 10 points. Lone Peak will get a first round bye in the 6A playoffs after receiving the No. 2 seed.

1. Corner Canyon Chargers (10-0)

The Chargers won their 36th straight game last week with a victory over American Fork. Corner Canyon will search for their third straight state championship as the No. 1 seed in the 6A tournament.
