Real Salt Lake Earns First Win In Last Five Matches Against Timbers

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake defeated the Portland Timbers to earn the club’s first victory in its last five matches.
RSL hosted Portland at Rio Tinto Stadium on Wednesday, October 14.
After taking a 2-0 lead in the first half, RSL held on for a 2-1 win over Portland to pick up its first three-point match in nearly a month.
Prior to beating the Timbers, RSL’s last victory came against the LA Galaxy on September 23.

After the match against the Galaxy, Real Salt Lake posted one draw followed by three losses.
The first goal against Portland came courtesy of Douglas Martínez in the 11th minute.

15 minutes later, RSL midfielder Damir Kreilach converted a corner kick to put the Utah based soccer club up 2-0.

In the second half, Portland scored its first and only goal of the match in the 77th minute.

Despite the added pressure. Real Salt Lake held on for the win and three points.
