PROVO, Utah – This November, BYU and Boise State are set to face off for the ninth consecutive year. When they do, it will take place on a weeknight instead of the original Saturday, November 7th date.
The Mountain West Conference released its national television package schedule for the 2020 football season on Tuesday. BYU’s trip to Boise State has been moved up one day from Saturday, November 7th to Friday, November 6th and will be televised on Fox Sports 1 (FS1). The first time a game between BYU and Boise State won’t be televised on an ESPN network.

This is the first season of the Mountain West’s new television deal with FOX and CBS Sports, but some traditions continue with new television deals, and that’s putting BYU and Boise State on a weeknight. This will be the eighth meeting between the two programs that have been played on a weeknight.
BYU/Boise State moves to Friday night
Kickoff for BYU and Boise State on Friday, November 6th, is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. (MT).
Boise State leads the all-time series between the two programs holding a 3-7 lead. Last year, BYU pulled off an upset by taking down an undefeated Boise State team ranked No. 14 in the AP Top 25.

Like Boise a season ago, BYU is currently undefeated and ranked No. 14 in the latest AP Top 25. The Broncos have yet to begin their season, which opens up on October 24th against Utah State.
This game came to be despite the Mountain West playing a Conference-only schedule this season. BYU and Boise had originally been scheduled to play before COVID-19 altered everyone’s schedules. But with Air Force not altering its game against Army scheduled for November 7th, it created an opening for BYU and Boise State. Boise AD Curt Apsey called BYU AD Tom Holmoe, and the game was put together in short order.
