SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It was supposed to be the year that the University of Utah transformed themselves into the air-raid juggernaut and Jaylen Dixon was going to have a big part to say. Unfortunately, Dixon has decided to part ways with the program that gave him his first taste of college football and his teammates are sad to see him go.
Love this guy so much! Hard to see him go 😭 but I will be his friend and fan for the rest of my life. Whoever lands JD will get an amazing player and an even better teammate. Cheetah!! #Smurfs https://t.co/xkeGSYmZ3f

Britain Covey was evidently saddened to hear the news of Dixon’s departure, however, is excited for the young speedster to cause havoc elsewhere.
“Love this guy so much! Hard to see him go but I will be his friend and fan for the rest of my life. Whoever lands JD will get an amazing player and an even better teammate. Cheetah!!” Covey tweeted.
Reasons for Dixon’s transfer are currently unknown. Although the timing of the news suggests that the program was not intending Dixon’s absence in 2020.
Dixon was entering his redshirt junior season with the Utes. Previously, he has played in 28 games, starting nine of them at wide-receiver. His last two seasons have included a combined 56 receptions, 932 total yards and three touchdowns.

Kyle Whittingham and the Utes will not be able to replace the speed of Dixon. Playing predominantly out of the slot, Dixon was incredibly effective running go routes up the seam while also being a productive short route runner as well.
Dixon’s speed, athleticism and personality will be missed.
Be great🙏🏾 https://t.co/XixGvME9jk
