PROVO, Utah – The first-ever meeting between BYU and Texas State will have the eyes of the nation in a late-night broadcast on October 24th.
BYU/Texas State Kickoff & TV info announced
On Monday, TV and kickoff info was announced for the game between the Cougars and the Bobcats on October 24th. BYU will host Texas State in a guarantee game at 8:15 p.m. (MT) on ESPN. Say hello once again to “BYU After Dark.”
No announcement has been made on whether fans will be able to attend the game at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
With limited options for ESPN to choose from out west, BYU benefits again with a nationally-televised broadcast against a program that typically wouldn’t garner the ESPN spotlight in a college football season that isn’t impacted by a pandemic. Doesn’t hurt that the Cougars are 4-0 and now ranked at No. 14 in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

This is the fourth game in 2020 BYU has landed on ESPN. All of BYU’s first six games have been televised on either ESPN or ESPN2.
The October 24th weekend will be the first time this fall that BYU isn’t the only team out west playing. Programs from the Mountain West Conference begin their fall season on the 24th. None of those teams were eligible for ESPN time slots as the Mountain West Conference is now partnered with FOX and CBS.
BYU added Texas State to its 2020 schedule in August after the Cougars lost nearly all of their previously scheduled games due to COVID-19 scheduling changes. Texas State will receive a guaranteed payday from BYU with no return visit to San Marcos in the future.
The Bobcats, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, are 1-4 to open the 2020 season.
