Damir Kreilach Taps In Easy Goal To Give RSL First Half Advantage
PORTLAND, Ore. – Real Salt Lake got on the scoreboard first with an easy tap in goal by Damir Kreilach.
In the 37th minute, Douglas Martinez fired the ball far post to Justin Meram who headed the ball to Kreilach at the center of the box for an easy tap in with his right foot.
The goal gave RSL a 1-0 lead in the first half over the Vancouver Whitecaps. The game is being played at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon due to COVID-19 restrictions in Vancouver and Canada.
It’s the seventh goal of the season for the Croatian in his 16th match of 2020. RSL is desperate for a win as they are currently sitting below the playoff line with 19 points. They have either lost or tied their last three matches. Real Salt Lake’s last win was on September 23 with a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy. Then they had a 0-0 draw versus Minnesota United.
From that point, RSL lost their next two matches in a 3-1 defeat to LAFC and 2-1 to Seattle on Wednesday.
Vancouver is sitting just below RSL in the Western Conference standings with 15 points.
