PROVO, UtahΒ – BYU basketball now has a schedule for the upcoming 2020-21 season in WCC play. The league released its schedule for the upcoming season on Thursday, and it features the 16-game league slate that the conference adopted two seasons ago.

BYU and the rest of the WCC will begin conference play on New Year’s Eve, December 31st. BYU’s first league game is in Malibu, California, against the Pepperdine Waves.

Last season, BYU finished in second place in the WCC with a 13-3 record. The highlight of BYU’s season that finished with a national ranking and 24-8 overall record was a senior night win over the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

BYU will get another opportunity for some senior night magic against the Zags when they host the Bulldogs on February 27th for the final game of BYU’s league schedule. The Cougars will visit The Kennel three weeks earlier on February 6th.

Gonzaga is viewed by many outlets to be the preseason No. 1 team in America entering the 2020-21 college basketball season.

After the league opener at Pepperdine, BYU will travel down I-5 to play the San Diego Toreros to close out the first weekend of league play.

With the WCC’s 16-game schedule, two league foes only appear on the schedule once. Those teams for BYU this year are Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara. BYU will travel to face the Lions in Los Angeles on February 20th and then host Herb Sendek’s Broncos in Provo on February 25th.

BYU has yet another early trip to McKeon Pavilion in Moraga to face Saint Mary’s. The Cougars face the Gaels on the road in their fourth conference game on January 14th. Saint Mary’s makes a return trip to Provo on February 11th.
