SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – As the Pac-12 announced the return of football in November, national pundits are putting together their predictions.
Jerry Palm of CBS Sports predicts the 2020 Utah football team to square off with Pittsburgh in the Holiday Bowl.
If this prediction lives up to it’s potential, it will be Utah’s second appearance in the Holiday Bowl.

Utes In Holiday Bowl
It would be the second time that Utah would face Pittsburgh in a bowl game. The first meeting was pretty significant as the 2004 Utes became the first non-BCS school to win a BCS bowl game when they took down the Panthers, 35-7 in the Fiesta Bowl.
The first time the Utes appeared in the Holiday Bowl was in 2018 when they lost to Northwestern, 31-20. Utah jumped out to a 20-3 lead in the first half. The Utes wouldn’t score again but the Wildcats dropped 28 points in the third quarter to complete the comeback.
Jason Shelley threw for 302 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. They were only able to rack up 91 rushing yards in that game.
Other Pac-12 Bowl Predictions
CBS Sports has eight teams total from the Pac-12 playing in a bowl game this season. Palm has the following Pac-12 schools playing in bowl games:
- Oregon vs. Clemson – Sugar Bowl (College Football Playoff)
- USC vs. Penn State – Fiesta Bowl
- Arizona State vs. Iowa State – Alamo Bowl
- Washington vs. Oklahoma State – Sun Bowl
- Stanford vs. Army – Independence Bowl
- California vs. LSU – Las Vegas Bowl
- UCLA vs. Nevada – Los Angeles Bowl
