PROVO, Utah – BYU has opened the 2020 college football season as one of the nation’s most dominant teams, giving them status as a Top 25 team. The Cougars are outscoring their opposition 103-10 through their first two games. It’s the most points scored by a BYU team through its first two games since 2001.
Is BYU’s success a byproduct of the schedule? Maybe. Even if Navy and Troy end up being subpar football teams this season, BYU is crushing them like they are inferior teams.
The pollsters in both the Coaches and Associated Press Top 25 polls rewarded BYU with a spot in their latest national rankings.

BYU moved up one spot to No. 22 in the Amway Coaches Poll on Sunday. Then an hour later the Associated Press rewarded BYU with a spot in the latest rankings. The Cougars are now No. 22 in the latest AP poll. Down four spots from last week’s No. 18 ranking.
BYU’s dip in the AP Top 25 was a byproduct of the Associated Press allowing teams from all 10 FBS conferences to be included in the rankings. A combined five teams from the Big Ten and Pac-12 checked into the rankings for the first time this season.

This is BYU’s third consecutive week in the rankings, the longest stretch for a BYU team since 2014. That year BYU opened the season 4-0.
