PROVO, Utah – BYU junior quarterback Zach Wilson needs to wear the all-royal blue uniforms more often. His best games in those uniforms.
The last time he wore all-royal blue uniforms, he was perfect against Western Michigan in the 2018 Famous Idaho Bowl his freshman season. Fast forward to Saturday night, Wilson and the No. 18 Cougars torched a Troy defense that had no answer for BYU’s offensive firepower.

Wilson tossed for a career-high 392 yards against the Trojans to lead BYU to a dominant 48-7 victory. Wilson and the BYU offense were making a statement that they weren’t just a one-hit-wonder against Navy.
Zach Wilson goes off for a career night
Wilson completed 23 of his 28 passes and threw for two touchdowns with zero interceptions. His quarterback rating was an eye-popping 223.3. To make the stat line even more impressive, Wilson had two touchdown runs.
The junior signal-caller had a pair of targets that were his favorite on Saturday. Wilson connected with childhood friend Dax Milne seven times, good for 140 yards, a 20 yard per catch average. But it didn’t stop there; Wilson found Gunner Romney five times and those handful of grabs were good for 138 yards. A staggering 27.6 yards per grab.
Zach Wilson needs to wear the all-royals more. Not quite perfect but he's already up to 316 yards passing. QBR of 250.7.#TROYvsBYU #BYU @kslsports

Wilson’s night was finished after fullback/tight end Masen Wake scored his second touchdown of the night to put BYU up 45-7 early in the fourth quarter.
Through two games, Wilson is up to 624 passing yards with a four-to-one touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Next up for BYU is another home matchup in front of no fans on Friday, October 2nd, against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs from Conference-USA.
