No. 1 Corner Canyon Completes Comeback With Impressive Road Win Over No. 3 Lone Peak

HIGHLAND, Utah – After trailing in the first half, No. 1 Corner Canyon had an impressive second half to take down No. 3 Lone Peak on the road, 35-25.
It is the 33rd straight win for the two-time defending state champions.
Jaxson Dart threw three touchdowns, all to Cody Hagen while also running in a score for the Chargers. Lone Peak picked up two rushing touchdowns from Luke Durfey and a fumble recovery in the end zone from John Henry Daly.
Lone Peak Controlled First Half
Just four minutes into the game, Lone Peak found the end zone for the first time with a one-yard touchdown by Luke Durfey to give the Knights a 7-0 lead. Five minutes later, Benjamin Miller nailed a field goal and another one near the end of the opening period to give Lone Peak a 13-0 advantage.
Just before the end of the quarter, Jaxson Dart found Cody Hagen for an 80-yard touchdown with 9 seconds left in the first to trail by six.

Early in the second quarter, Dart and Hagen connected for the second time, this time from 52-yards out to take their first lead of the game, 14-13.
Late in the quarter, Dart was dropping back to pass in his own end zone. As he was sacked, the ball was ripped out by Lone Peak star John Henry Daly and was awarded a touchdown to give the Knights a 19-14 lead with 3:02 remaining after failing to get the two-point conversion.

Corner Canyon Completes Comeback
Midway through the third quarter, the Chargers get another touchdown as Dart and Hagen complete the football hatrick, finding the end zone for the third time. That gave Corner Canyon a 28-19 lead with 7:39 remaining in the third.
After getting the ball back from Lone Peak, the Chargers scored again as Dart ran the ball up the middle for a short TD to take a 35-19 lead in the fourth quarter.
The Knights stopped the bleeding with a touchdown run by Durfey for his second score of the game. They couldn’t get the two-point conversion and trailed Corner Canyon 35-25 with 6:18 left in the game.

The Chargers improve their record to 7-0 on the season. They will return home next week to face Westlake on Friday at 7 p.m.
Lone Peak suffered their first loss of the 2020 season and are now 6-1 on the year. The Knights will host No. 2 Skyridge next Friday at 7 p.m.
