No. 9 Sky View Defeats No. 16 Ridgeline With Late Field Goal

LOGAN, Utah – It was a tightly contested game on Thursday night that saw the ninth ranked Sky View picking up a 17-14 win over No. 16 Ridgeline.
The game featured a field goal block returned for a touchdown along with a rushing touchdown by Walter Collins for Sky View.
The Bobcats won their 18th straight game dating back to last season.
For the Riverhawks, Kaden Cox threw a touchdown pass and ran in a score to tie the game late in the fourth quarter.
Defensive Effort In First Half
After a long drive that lasted 13 plays, Rideline’s field goal was blocked and returned by Sky View’s Isaac Larsen for a touchdown. That gave the Bobcats a 7-0 lead with 3:27 left in the first quarter. Sky View didn’t get their first offensive possession until there was 58 seconds left in the opening quarter.
Midway through the second quarter, Kasen Carlsen threw an interception to Ridgeline cornerback and BYU commit Jovesa Damuni. The Riverhawks couldn’t capitalize. Sky View attempted a field goal to with three seconds left to potentially go up by 10 points but the attempted was missed.

Bobcats Squeak Out Victory
Sky View received the ball to start the second half and they had an efficient offense that ended with an 8-yard touchdown run by Walter Collins. The Bobcats took a 14-0 lead with 7:28 remaining in the third quarter.
Ridgeline couldn’t return the favor and were forced to punt on their first drive of the second half. When the Riverhawks got the ball back, Kaden Cox connected with Evan Webb for a touchdown. They also got the two-point conversion to trim Sky View’s lead to 14-8 with 1:36 left in the third quarter.
With 2:58 left in the game, Ridgeline powered their way into the end zone with a one-yard TD from Kaden Cox. They had trouble with the snap on the PAT and the holder was tackled so the game was tied at 14.
The Riverhawks had one more chance to win the game in regulation as they started with the ball at their own 6-yard line with 1:29 left in the game. After a big pass play by Ridgeline towards midfield, the receiver fumbled the ball and Sky View recovered the fumble just before going out of bounds, giving Sky View the final shot in regulation with 51 seconds left.
Kasen Erickson came on to attempt a 28-yard field goal with 11 seconds left and drilled it.
Sky View improved their record to 6-0 on the season. They will host Mountain Crest next Friday at 7 p.m.
Rideline dropped to 4-1 on the year. The Riverhawks will host Logan next Friday at 7 p.m.
