It was a great opening drive for the Cougars after they forced Navy to punt on a three-and-out to begin the game in Annapolis, Maryland. BYU’s first offensive drive started with an incomplete pass to Gunner Romney. Running back Lopini Katoa had the first carry for the offense and ran for 8 yards. Dax Milne ran for three yards and a first down for BYU on a third and 2.
Wilson attempted to hit Romney again but it was incomplete. Allegeier’s first carry was a 5 yard run followed by another run of 8 yards for a first down. A personal foul penalty on Navy put the Cougars into Midshipmen territory. After the penalty, Allgeier ran in the 34-yard touchdown.
