BYU Football’s 2020 Home Game Against Houston Moved To TDECU Stadium In Texas

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU football announced that the program’s 2020 home game against the Houston Cougars has been moved to TDECU Stadium.
BYU was slated to host Houston at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Friday, October 16.
The two Cougars will now face off on at Houston’s home turf, John O’Quinn Field at TDECU Stadium. Houston’s stadium is relatively new, having opened in August 2014.
This will be BYU’s first football trip to Houston’s campus.
“Due to issues regarding travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, Houston approached BYU about switching the order of the two-game series that was announced in 2017,” BYU football said in a statement. “Under the amended agreement, the second game of the series will be played in Provo at LaVell Edwards Stadium at a date to be determined.”
BYU and Houston have announced the game between the two schools, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16 at LaVell Edwards Stadium, is being moved to TDECU Stadium in Houston.

BYU and Houston are still scheduled to kick-off on Friday, October 16.
The contest will begin at 8:30 p.m. (MDT) and will be broadcast on ESPN2 and KSL NewsRadio 1160 AM & 102.7 FM.
2020 BYU Football Schedule
BYU now has three road games on its 2020 schedule:
- @ Navy on September 7
- @ Army on September 19
- @ Houston on October 16
The Cougars are currently slated to host the following schools at LaVell Edwards Stadium this season:
- Troy on September 26
- UTSA on October 10
- Texas State on October 24
- Western Kentucky on October 31
- North Alabama on November 21
BYU vs. Houston All-Time Series
BYU and Houston have played each other two other times in history with the Cougars of Provo winning both contests.
They last played each other in 2014 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Led by Cougar greats, Taysom Hill and Jamaal Williams, BYU won 33-25.
The first meeting of the series was only a season earlier when they played at the home of the NFL’s Houston Texans. Led by Hill, BYU beat Houston in a shootout 47-46.
BYU’s Season Opener
The BYU Cougars are scheduled to open the 2020 season against the Navy Midshipmen on Monday, September 7. That game will begin at 7 p.m. (MDT) and will be be broadcast on ESPN and KSL NewsRadio 1160 AM & 102.7 FM.
