BYU Football Names Captains, Leadership Council Ahead Of Season Opener

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake announced the captains and leadership council for the 2020 team.
There are eight total captains and an additional eight players who will join them on the leadership council.

Offensive Captains
- Matt Bushman, senior, tight end
- Lopini Katoa, junior, running back
- Brady Christensen, junior, offensive line
- James Empey, junior, offensive line
Defensive Captains
- Khyiris Tonga, senior, defensive line
- Isaiah Kaufusi, senior, linebacker
- Troy Warner, senior, defensive back
- Zayne Anderson, senior, defensive back
Additional Leadership Council Members
- Chris Wilcox, defensive back
- Bracken El-Bakri, defensive line
- Zach Wilson, quarterback
- Gunner Romney, wide receiver
- Neil Pau’u, wide receiver
- Lorenzo Fauatea, defensive line
- Baylor Romney, quarterback
- Payton Wilgar, linebacker
“These leaders were voted on and chosen by our team,” Sitake said. “The names aren’t surprising as these have been the guys leading our team this whole year. I am happy they’ve been recognized by their teammates and just pleased we have so many great leaders on our team.”
The Cougars open up the season on Monday, September 7 at 6:00 MDT in Annapolis against the Navy Midshipmen.
