Watt, 31, currently plays for the Houston Texans and has strong ties to women’s soccer through his wife Kealia Watt who currently plays for the Chicago Red Stars in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
Kealia Watt was born in Draper, Utah attending Alta High School, graduating in 2010. While at Alta, she was a four-year varsity soccer player and led Alta to four consecutive state championships.
In 2010, Watt decided to travel East to further develop her soccer career at North Carolina University.
Following her collegiate soccer career, Watt was subsequently drafted as the second-overall pick in the 2014 NWSL Draft by the Houston Dash.
It was while she was playing in Houston when Watt met her future husband, JJ. In October of 2016 Watt publicly announced that she was in a relationship with JJ and in February of 2020 they were officially pronounced husband and wife in the Bahamas.
Currently, Utah Royals FC is under the Utah Soccer Holdings umbrella and is accompanied by Real Salt Lake and the Real Monarchs. It is unclear if Dell Loy Hansen will sell the properties as a package or as individual sellings.
