Real Salt Lake Forward Giuseppe Rossi Scores His First MLS Goal Against Portland Timbers

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake forward Giuseppe Rossi scored his first goal in Major League Soccer during a match against the Portland Timbers.
Rossi and RSL played against the Timbers on Saturday, August 29.
The forward entered the match when he replaced Maikel Chang during the 84th minute with the Timbers holding a 3-2 lead. A minute later, Portland’s Felipe Mora’s scored a goal to make it 4-2. The goal seemingly put the Timbers in position to secure three points and a home win.
Shortly after Mora’s goal, Rossi began a late comeback by RSL when he scored his first MLS goal during the 90th minute to cut Portland’s lead to 4-3.

In stoppage time, RSL’s Sam Johnson scored the match-tying goal on an assist from Corey Baird.
With the 4-4 result, Real Salt Lake earned a point and improved to 2-1-4 this season.
Rossi signed with the Utah-based MLS club in February 2020.
Prior to joining Real Salt Lake, the Clifton, New Jersey native played for multiple international clubs, including Manchester United, Newcastle United, Parma, Fiorentina, Genoa, Villarreal, Levante, and Celta Vigo.
Rossi and RSL’s next match is against the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday, September 2 at 7:30 p.m. (MDT). The match will broadcast via the KSL TV app and KSLSports.com.
