“There’s enough of a pattern with his leadership that he does not belong in his current role any longer,” the former USMNT coach said.
Bradley continued to emphasize how his players took a lead role in the decision to not play Wednesday’s match against Real Salt Lake. He also credits team ownership having “respected, understood and stood with our players.”
League Investigation Pending
Dell Loy Hansen is currently being investigated by the league following a number of incidents that stemmed from comments made on a local Salt Lake City radio station.
Hansen reiterated his “disappointment”, claiming he felt as though he had been stabbed because the players cancelled the game. Hansen mentioned how “it has taken a lot of wind out of my sails on how much I want to invest in the team.”
A few hours later, Hansen apologised. Claiming he “probably misinterpreted” the intentions of Real Salt Lake’s players in their desire to cancel the match.
An article posted by the Athletic then appeared where Hansen was accused of making racist remarks on a number of occasions. The league quickly released a statement informing the public that they had “commenced an immediate investigation” into Hansen’s antics.
Next Match
Real Salt Lake is scheduled to play the Portland Timbers away from home on Saturday evening with kickoff expected for 8:30 p.m. However, it is still unclear as to whether the match will be played.
