PROVO, Utah – Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, things have been different down at BYU Football fall camp 2020. Players are wearing masks and new face shields on helmets and media members are nowhere to be found.
Thankfully, BYU Athletics has been providing “B-Roll Footage” and small social media clips to hold fans over until the first game in Annapolis versus the Navy Midshipmen.
Junior wide receiver Gunner Romney made several big plays and Zach Wilson looked like the number one quarterback on the roster.
I poured over the footage from the most recent scrimmage and below are some plays that stood out to me.
Zach Wilson connects with Neil Pau’u
B-Roll Breakdown: Fall camp scrimmage edition. Man, it was nice seeing some football in LES.
Zach Wilson throws a dart to Neil Pau’u who beats Chaz Ah You in coverage.
Wilson has been slinging it lately. Gorgeous spiral. @kslsports #BYU #GoCougs pic.twitter.com/JnI5XlDOxe

Zach Wilson was impressive leading the offense to several touchdowns. He connects with Neil Pau’u who beats safety Chaz Ah You on a crossing route.
I love the accuracy shown here by Wilson as he hits Pau’u in stride while throwing it just high enough to clear linebacker Payton Wilgar near the line of scrimmage.
Zach Wilson throws TD to Gunner Romney
Gunner Romney was probably the star of the B-Roll footage today.
Another fantastic pass from Wilson.
Romney has been coming on strong as of late. He would be a huge weapon for this offense if fully healthy. @kslsports #BYU #GoCougs https://t.co/JzI6JhUQih pic.twitter.com/RcEvxIHze7

Gunner Romney was the star of the scrimmage from the footage sent to the media. He beats defensive back Mitchell Price here on a deep route down the sideline.
Zach Wilson throws another beautiful pass for the touchdown. Perfect placement with a tight spiral leads to an easy touchdown.
Isaac Rex reception
Isaac Rex sighting! He’s gonna be a good one. Looks like Wilson found him in the soft spot of a zone coverage look. @kslsports #BYU #GoCougs https://t.co/qYR6MI9T4C pic.twitter.com/V4vIDj6VAd

Matt Bushman was nowhere to be found in the footage provided. It’s hard to say what that means exactly since we are only seeing a small sample size of what happened. What’s notable here is Zach Wilson finding freshman tight end Isaac Rex for an easy completion.
Rex will have a significant role in the offense this season and you can see the skills and abilities that make coaches excited for what he can provide to the team.
Dax Milne makes a contested reception
Dax Milne with a nice grab over Hayden Livingston, but it’s the pass the stands out.
I’m really impressed with accuracy displayed by Zach Wilson in these clips.
Great touch, ball placement, and spiral. Amazing stuff from ZW. https://t.co/ddIQ8HxQ4g pic.twitter.com/07M7OPNYiu

Great coverage by Hayden Livingston as he battles with Dax Milne down the sideline.
In this case, great offense beats great defense as the throw from Zach Wilson is right on the money. Milne has shown throughout camp that he is capable of making difficult receptions.
The Cougars’ first game is only a couple weeks away, and from the football provided, I am excited to see what they can accomplish in this college football season like no other.
