Utah Jazz Center Rudy Gobert Dominates, Records Double-Double In First Half Against Nuggets

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert dominated the Denver Nuggets during the first two quarters of Game 3 and recorded a first half double-double.
Gobert and the Jazz played the Nuggets on Friday, August 21. Utah and Denver entered the meeting with their first-round series tied at 1-1.
The two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year turned on his offensive game and feasted on the Nuggets’ defense with a game-high 20 points on 9-11 shooting.
Five of Gobert’s field goals were slam dunks.

Gobert rounded out his double-double by pulling down 11 rebounds, including three on the offensive glass.
He posted a plus-eight rating during his first 21 minutes of action.
In the first quarter alone, Gobert nearly outscored the Nuggets entire team with 12 points compared to Denver’s 14 opening quarter total.

His first half tally was higher than his game total from the first two contests of the series.
In Game 1 of the series, Gobert scored 17 points. In Game 2, he scored 19 points.
This season, Gobert averaged 15.1 points per game on 69.3 percent shooting.
At halftime, the Jazz held a 17 point advantage, 59-42.
