SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau shot a plus-one 72 through the first round of the Northern Trust, the first of three events of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

The round included three bogeys and two bogeys after teeing off on the 10th hole. His first bogey came on Finau’s second hole, the par 3 11th that was playing 231 yards. The remainder of his front nine ended with a clean 7 pars.

The back nine, which is normally the front nine, was far more action-packed. A bogey on one was not the start at the turn in which Finau was after. However, he was able to rebound with a quick bogey on two. His second, and final birdie of the day, came on the 600-yard par 5 7th.

Unfortunately, Finau’s round ended with a bogey on nine to finish the round at one over par and in a tie for 98.

Finau sits eight shots behind the four-way-tie atop the leaderboard as Harris English, Kevin Streelman, Cameron Davis and Russell Henley finished their first 18 holes in seven-under-par.

Friday’s round for Finau begins at 6:26 a.m. MT, he is teeing off the first hole and playing alongside Kevin Streelman and Scottie Scheffeler.

Finau must go low on Friday if he plans on keeping his weekend plans alive as the projected cut-line sits at one-under-par with that number almost certainly going to drop by tomorrow evening.

PGATour.com estimates a 22.8 percent chance that the cutline following tomorrow’s round will be two-under-par.
