Hurricane Tigers Claim Victory Over Murray On Last-Minute Touchdown, Two-Point Conversion

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Hurricane Tigers defeated the Murray Spartans on a last-minute touchdown and two-point conversion on Friday, August 21.
Murray (5A) 14 Hurricane 15
After being tied 7-7 with the Hurricane for much of the second half, Murray scored a go-ahead touchdown with four minutes left in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers responded with a touchdown and game-winning two-point conversion with under a minute remaining to claim a 15-14 win.
Hurricane quarterback Carter Ashby hit Jack Reeve for the final touchdown.
The result was Hurricane’s first win of the season.

Ben Lomond 7 American Leadership (3A) 24
The American Leadership Eagles bounced back from a 7-3 halftime deficit to defeat the Ben Lomond Scots. The Eagles scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to get their second win of the season. American Leadership quarterback Hyrum Morley threw two touchdowns in the victory.
Bonneville (5A) 21 No. 15 Sky View 42
The No. 15 Sky View Bobcats hosted the Bonneville Lakers on Friday night. Sky View jumped out to a 20-0 lead before the Lakers scored their first touchdown of the game shortly before halftime. The Bobcats pounced in the second half and scored 22 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Bonneville’s 14 second half points weren’t enough to overcome Sky View and the Bobcats picked up a 42-21 win. Sky View’ Kasen Carlsen and Walter Collins each scored two touchdowns.
Box Elder (5A) 29 Green Canyon 30
The Green Canyon Wolves scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to come back and beat the Box Elder Bees 30-29. Green Canyon quarterback Jake Lundin hit Jacob Regen with the game-winning touchdown pass with 24 seconds left to play. In addition to the game-winner, Lundin ran for a couple of touchdowns as well.
Cyprus at Ridgeline
This game was canceled after two Cyprus players tested positive for COVID-19.
Grand (3A) 22 Canyon View 54
The Canyon View Falcons jumped out to a 26-0 lead over the Grand Red Devils during the first quarter and didn’t look back. Over the next three quarters, Canyon View added another 28 points and Grand couldn’t keep pace in the Falcons’ 54-22 win. Falcons running back Gunner Hatch ran for three touchdowns in the game.

Juab (3A) 30 Cedar City 19
The Juab Wasps traveled to Cedar City and scored 23 points in the second half for a comeback victory over the Cedar City Reds. The Reds held a 13-7 advantage at halftime before Juab scored 10 points in the third quarter to retake the lead. The Wasps added 13 points in the fourth quarter to earn a 30-19 road win.
Logan 6 Stansbury 38
The Stansbury Stallions rode a 24-0 lead into the fourth quarter against the Logan Grizzlies on Friday night. The Stallions scored 14 more points in the final quarter and limited the Grizzlies to only six points in a 38-6 win. Stansbury’s Nate Bushnell ran for a pair of scores in the big win.
Morgan (3A) 14 Bear River 20
The Bear River Bears held off a late comeback attempt by the Morgan Trojans to win 20-14 on Friday, August 21. After holding a 14-0 lead at halftime, the Bears tacked on another six points in the third quarter. The Trojans battled back with a pair of touchdowns in the final quarter but it wasn’t enough to overcome Bear River. Bear players Chance Udy and Kace Jones each scored a rushing TD in the win.
Providence Hall (3A) 6 Ogden 35
The Ogden Tigers held a 28-0 lead going into the fourth quarter against the Providence Hall Patriots on Friday night. The Tigers added another seven points in the final quarter and limited the Patriots to six points in the fourth for a 35-6 victory. Ogden’s Logan Shobe ran for two touchdowns in the win.
Tooele 0 Grantsville (3A) 21
The Grantsville Cowboys hosted nearby foe Tooele on Friday, August 21. The Cowboys held a 14-0 lead over the Buffaloes at halftime and tacked on another touchdown in the third quarter to shut out Tooele 21-0. Cowboys running back Blake Thomas ran for two touchdowns in the win.

Union (3A) 40 Uintah 10
The Union Cougars jumped to an early 21-7 lead over the Uintah Utes in the first quarter of action on Friday, August 21. The Cougars added another 13 points in the second quarter to go up 34-10 at the half. The Utes were unable to tack on any scores in the second half and fell 40-10 to the Cougars. Union’s Boone Latham ran for two touchdowns in the game.
Alta (5A) 54 Desert Hills 14
The Alta Hawks crushed the Desert Hills Thunder 54-14 on Friday evening. Trailing the Thunder 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, the Hawks responded with a 54-7 run over the final three quarters to blow out Desert Hills. Hawks quarterback Ethan Jackson tossed three touchdowns in the win.
Highland (5A) 13 Pine View 21
The Pine View Panthers jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and rode their defense in the second half to a 21-13 win over the Highland Rams on Friday. Pineview quarterback Brayden Bunnell threw three touchdowns in the game.
Lehi (5A) 36 Crimson Cliffs 0
The Lehi Pioneers traveled to St. George to take on the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs on Friday, August 21. Lehi held a 20-0 edge at halftime. The Pioneers added another 16 points in the fourth quarter to blow out the Mustangs 36-0. Lehi’s Peyton Dieters ran for a pair of touchdowns in the win.
