SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau will play alongside Kevin Streelman and Scottie Scheffeler for the first two rounds of The Northern Trust, which is being hosted by TPC Boston in Massachusetts this week.

Finau returns to the PGA Tour after taking a week off following his fourth-place finish at the PGA Championship two weeks ago, which netted him $404,350.

FedEx Cup Playoff Format

The Northern Trust marks the first of three weeks of the FedEx Cup playoffs, where the top 125 players in the FedEx Cup standings compete against each other. The 125 player field also receive their PGA Tour exemption card for the following season.

Players that miss the cut this week after 36 holes will be eliminated from the playoffs.

Finau will begin The Northern Trust ranked 22nd in the rankings. Assuming he makes the cut and plays on the weekend, Finau is in a prime position to compete at next week’s event, The BMW Championship, where the top 70 players in the standings compete.

Finally, the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings will battle it out at the final event of the 2019-20 season, the Tour Championship.

In 2019, Rory McIlroy won the FedEx Cup. He is currently ranked 8th in the standings.

Featured Groups

Finau will not be a member of this week’s featured groups through the first two days of play. However, if Finau can find a way to compete on Sunday, the long-bombing Utahn will be shown on television for our eyes to enjoy.
