Finau Shoots Third Round 67, Sits Three Back Of Leaders At PGA Championship

SAN FRANCISCO, California – Tony Finau shot a 67 (-3) during Saturday’s third round of the PGA Championship, finishing three shots off the lead.
Finau nearly rolled in a long birdie putt on the 18th hole, but it just slid by the hole. He finished with a tap-in par putt.

Tony’s Round
Finau began his round at 2:00 p.m. mountain time, sinking three straight par putts to get his round off to a solid start. He followed that up with his best stretch of the day, scoring three birdies out of the next four holes.
Finau gave a shot back on the par-4 9th hole, following with another birdie on the par-5 10th.
After a bogey at 12, Finau finished the round with the highlight of his day. Facing a 50-foot putt on the par-3 17th, Finau calmly rolled the ball in the cup, scoring a birdie for the hole.

A par at the 18th gave him a total of -3 for the round, and -6 after 54 holes.
Finau’s Chances On Sunday
Finau is being heralded as a dark-horse contender by some on social media.

Finau trails leader Dustin Johnson by three shots. Johnson’s eight birdies buoyed him against a bogey on the par-4 6th hole and a double bogey at the par-4 9th. Johnson shot -5 for the day, and sits at -9 for the tournament.
